Hannah and her mentor Clare Thornton have been focusing their sessions towards developing Hannah’s skills in managing her solo performance art practice alongside her collaborative work with Bristol Diving School and PEEK KOLLECTIVE. Hannah has been undertaking several written exercises tailored towards a variety of readers including performance curators, potential funders and fellow artists. Seeking advice from Clare on managing her time alongside collaborative commitments, she is developing professional networks and methods of communication to support her practice as a freelance professional artist.
Hannah and Hand in Glove’s Vickie attended Performing Documents: Remake at Arnolfini in September, in which Clare was a commissioned artist. Following that, they all attended the Potentials of Performance event in Hackney Wick in October, to prompt constructive discussion and written tasks about the different ways to review and explain new performance work.
In 2013 Hannah, Clare and Vickie will be pulling together their experiences from the first phase of mentoring to support Hannah’s forthcoming King of Ubu project; a staging of Alfred Jarry’s play “Ubu Roi” with input by audience members and workshop participants at a social club in south Bristol.
