If art is a process; not a thing, but something that is happening, This Impossibly Conjured World presents a set of tactics for re-appropriating and re-imagining that which is happening. Featuring artworks in a variety of media, the exhibition presents a series of particular considerations of the world, suggesting alteration in the way we may experience that world.
The artworks featured in This Impossibly Conjured World have been selected for their evocative qualities and preoccupation with the ‘moment’. The densely populated exhibition space is transformed through a series of encounters ranging from the tiny to the monumental. Presenting artworks that assume a similar function to mementos, trinkets and souvenirs, This Impossibly Conjured World becomes a layered visual composition of fabled narratives.
The unique space of the retail unit occupied by the exhibition offers the chance for the artists and exhibition curators to blur the boundaries between inner and outer space; allowing interior worlds of emotions, thoughts, memories and dreams to collide and ultimately reside with exterior reality and the public domain.
This Impossibly Conjured World orbits around various concerns and themes, particularly in light of the issue that the featured artworks can, in the most part, be viewed as real objects in space, and at the same time illusion or gesture. These ideas are examined through the presentation of assemblages and sculptural installations, offering a utopia or fantasy world for the viewer to explore.
We offer you this world to enter and enjoy.
